Bloody Friday

Well, Bloody Friday lived up to billing, I think. Not so many upsets in the ACC tournament, but certainly some good games. Too bad I missed the Duke-VA and GA Tech-UNC games. I kept up surreptitiously the "gametracker" at work, but it ain't the same. And the proxy server or something kept making it stall. Also, I use a Pentium 133 at work. Flash web graphics make it choke. I could hardly do my job with that web site open -- but we have to make sacrifices, right?

Anyhow, it sounds like the Tech-Carolina game was the one not to miss. NC State-FSU was okay. The Maryland-Wake game was also the one not to miss.

Today's games were also good. Duke didn't look so hot in the first half, and I was getting frustrated. But the second half made up for it. Shelden Williams really snuck up on me with his good play. Schenser Schmenser.

Maryland-State was another great game. Like Mike Gminski, I'd pretty much written off the Twerps after the first half. Damned if they didn't look like a basketball squad in the second half.

There's _no way_ Duke will beat them tomorrow.

In other news, I got a promotion at work. I'll now be in the "Business Development" group. A little more pay, a little more stress. I hope it's only a little more stress.

I also have a job interview Wednesday for a job I'd really like to have with Henrico Co. Schools. It's a Writer-Editor position, which sounds about right for me. Today I went out and bought a suit for the interview. Buying a suit is a bit like buying a hamburger. They try to get you to Biggie-size it and buy a second suit for only twice the price of one suit and take advantage of this deal today only etc etc etc. Don't they realize I don't _want_ to buy a suit, that, if they want my business again, there's an advantage to selling me a suit quickly and getting me out the door? If I _do_ need another suit, I'm looking for a place with a drive-thru. I've got basketball to watch.

    **good luck with the interview**

I own zero suits! Hooray for IT and it's relaxed dress code! Actually, weddings and funerals get a little hairy. Maryland? What the hell?

Oh yeah, I control the proxy server at work, so gametracker is all good in the neighborhood.

    **Suits and such**

Yep. It's nice the no suits. I wouldn't have to wear one if I got the job. Just trying desperately to make an impression, you know? And I've got the nicest Redwing workboots, but I have to wear these church shoes. Oh well.

First off, let me apologize for jinxing Duhon in a big way. I was talking to someone earlier today and made the statement that "Duhon is the one person we can't lose to injury." I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

    **good luck, man!**

Kick ass on the interview, Lee. I know you will. Bring baby pictures -- your handsome son with get ya the job, hands down. :)

Please don't mention the Carolina game again... They just keep getting my hopes up. As if I don't get ENOUGH rejection as a fiction writer!

    **yup**

Thanks for the luck, Mike. I gotta go in there and knock 'em out! As for basketball, I'm trying to be philosophical about it. It's been a fun season to watch no matter what happens, but it sure would be a lot more fun if . . . . But I mustn't even \_think\_ it.
