I grew up in Black Mountain, North Carolina, then went to school for a long time. I have a BA in English and Physics from Duke, an MA in English from NC State, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University. At VCU I was the 2002 Graduate Fiction Fellow of the College of Humanities and Sciences. My fiction has appeared in Avery, Bar Stories, Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, and elsewhere.
I write fiction very early in the day or very late in the night. It depends. For quite a while, I taught writing, but now I work as a computer systems administrator.
I live in Mechanicsville, Virginia with my wife and two young sons.
